More and more people are waiting for their refund and in many
cases the refund check is not direct to the bank account, but the IRS sends a check, which is why the authorities are warning about mail theft.
According to data from the United States Postal Service, since May 2023, 1,200 people have been arrested for mail theft, a crime that can lead to up to 30 years in prison.
WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF THEFT
The first thing you have to do is contact the IRS, to request information on how to officially file the complaint with the Tax Service, they will track and make sure to see if the refund was deposited and of course do the corresponding investigation.
