Tax filing: Why is the IRS slow to make refunds?

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS for its acronym in English) is in charge of carrying out the tax return, but how long it takes to complete the process, here we tell you.

The IRS issues more than nine out of 10 refunds in the normal time frame: less than 21 days. However, it is possible that some of the tax returns may require further review and may take longer than normal processing time.

Refunds related to amended returns are generally issued within a 16-week period. But, with the issue of delays due to the COVID pandemic, it can take up to 20 weeks.
